Five Boro Bike Tour

Some good friends just visited NY and did some cycling around there. Encountered the Five Boro Bike tour as well as you can see on this picture. Looks like a great event. Illustrative for future transport in big cities. Have a look at the site

Cycling in Mexico

Mexico, probably not the first country that comes to mind when thinking of cycling infrastructure. Especially not Mexico City. It is true that traffic and motorist behaviour in large parts of Mexico are not very favourable to cyclists.
However, less known is that quite some professional cylists use Mexico for training (at altitude). And a very recent and promising development is that even in Mexico City they have now discovered the advantages of the bicycle.
Have a look at this site and project. If you can bike in Mexico City you can bike everywhere!

A billion bikes TV

Discovered this site today with several nice movies about cycling. It is a pity the blog isn't up to date but the movies are still worth a view.

Online bicycle repair workshop

Dutch television recently started an online bicycle repair workshop.
Quite useful for those who want to carry out basic repairs on their own bike. Unfortunately only in dutch, sofar but it still might be useful for some of you. I will check out on youtube etc. if any english spoken workshops of this kind exist.

Politics and cycling

Elections coming up in some European countries. Let's have a look at the different manifesto to see what the different parties say about cycling. Today, the UK with the elections scheduled for the 6th of may.

This site Link has some notes on the programs of the Liberal Democrats, the Tories and Labour. It is not very uplifting although the Lib Dem's seem to have some good will to promote cycling.
However, this site is more promising Link. It looks like the Green Party is the best choice for the UK elections if you care about bicycles!
