International Bicycle Fund

Today I discovered this organization, the International Bicycle Fund. Looks like a very interesting NGO. They present themselves as a:
"A non-governmental, nonprofit, advocacy organization, providing information and resources promoting sustainable transport and international understanding to make this planet a healthier and happier place to live. Major areas of activity are non-motorized urban planning, economic development, bike safety education, responsible travel and bicycle tourism, and cross-cultural, educational programs".
Loads of information in many languages. Check out the link:

Today's news was that from British Archives it appeared that the British Secret Service (MI5) was very worried before the war about German youth cycling in the UK. Their worry was that these young cyclists would act as spies. Ofcourse it is an example of how the bicycle is 'misused' but it also illustrates the powerfull capacities and multifunctionality of bicycles.

Another good idea and proof of the multifunctionality of the bike!
Found on the internet.

Bike Police

Today I saw several police by bike in Utrecht (I happened to be there with my own foldable bike). Unfortunately I did not have my camera at hand but the internet has some material available. It proves how useful and (multi)functional the bicycle can be, especially in the city. Have a look at the video included.
